Help me, La Ronda

Sadness.

Sadness happened today, and I happened to witness it. La Ronda, a 90-year old estate designed by Addison Mizner, was demolished. This is a building I've been admiring from afar for a while, and even though activists and the historical society tried and tried and tried again, they could not save it.

I wonder what he's thinking, this current owner of this property. The one who applied to for permission from the township to tear down this amazing building and erect a McMansion.

What is he thinking? Will he sleep tonight?

I don't get it.

Sadness is in my heart for La Ronda.

oooh - that is very very sad. the happy thing of course is that so many people got involved to try to save it.

what are people thinking????? if you don't like the house, don't buy it! but buying something like that only to demolish it? non capisco.

NO!!!! That's so sad!!!

Have you seen the documentary "The Garden"? It's about this city garden in LA (largest in the USA) that belonged to this man and he destroyed the garden to build warehouses on the land. Except he didn't build warehouses, so it's just bare dirt.

That's what your story reminded me of..

Ja det är synd att man inte kan ta vara på ett sådant hus.
